Welcome to Chi Auto Repair
If you’re driving a 2009–2015 Honda Pilot around Bensalem Township or commuting into Northeast Philly, you’ve probably noticed that the roads aren't always kind to your suspension. Potholes on the Boulevard and the constant stop-and-go traffic through Andalusia take a toll.
Lately, have you noticed your Pilot doesn’t feel as tight as it used to? Does it "clunk" when you hit a bump or "shudder" when you step on the brakes? At Chi Auto Repair, one of the most common issues we see with this generation of Honda Pilot is torn or collapsed front lower control arm (LCA) compliance bushings.
Your Honda Pilot uses a heavy-duty suspension to give you that smooth, car-like ride. The compliance bushing is the large, rubber-filled part of the lower control arm that connects your wheel assembly to the frame.
Its job is to soak up road vibration and keep your wheels aligned during acceleration and braking. Because the Pilot is a heavy SUV, these rubber bushings are under immense pressure every time you turn the wheel or hit a dip in the road.
If you live in Parkwood, Millbrook, or anywhere in the Bensalem area, keep an ear (and a feel) out for these red flags:
The "Braking Shudder": When you slow down for a red light, the steering wheel shakes or the front end feels like it’s shifting forward.
Clunking Noises: A distinct knock or pop sound when driving over speed bumps or turning into a driveway.
Uneven Tire Wear: If the insides of your front tires are wearing down faster than the outsides, your alignment is shifting because the bushings are torn.
Vague Steering: The car feels "floaty" or drifts to one side, requiring constant corrections on the highway.
In Andalusia and Northeast Philly, we deal with tight turns and unpredictable traffic. When those bushings tear completely, your front wheels can actually move back and forth independently of the frame. This doesn't just ruin your tires; it compromises your ability to perform an emergency maneuver safely.
At Chi Auto Repair, we know the 2009–2015 Honda Pilot platform inside and out. Whether you’re coming from Millbrook or Parkwood.
Once we replace those worn-out bushings, we’ll get your Pilot back to that "factory-new" feel, ensuring your family stays safe on every trip.
